In Ukraine, a service is being developed to protect privacy in Telegram

In order to minimize the risks of leakage of personal information in the popular messenger, the NGO “Analytical Center of Information Resources” will develop a special service.
This was reported by the organization’s analyst Bohdan Solomykin during presentations in Ukrinform “Cyberspace protection: what solutions and developments are already working in Ukraine. What measures still need to be taken to counter Russia?”.
According to Solomykin, among popular messengers, Telegram carries the greatest risks for user privacy. He noted that due to numerous vulnerabilities of the platform, all data that enters it can become available for public inspection.
It is to minimize these risks that the Analytical Center of Information Resources will develop a special service. It will allow users to:
- Check the privacy settings in Telegram;
- Receive recommendations on minimizing the risks of personal data loss.
“The service allows you to check the privacy settings of your Telegram, gives recommendations on how to configure Telegram to minimize the risk of losing your data. In this application, at this time, you can complete one stage, and there will be several of them. The first step is to check your privacy settings. That is, any information, the ability to send you a message from an unknown number, the ability to add you to a group or get your phone number can be used against you.”, – explained Solomykin.
