In Ukraine, energy and utility workers will be paid an additional 20,000 hryvnias per month

Ukrainian energy, utility and railway workers will receive a monthly supplement of 20 thousand hryvnias. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal. Payments are being introduced for specialists who are directly involved in emergency and recovery work after the Russian Federation’s attacks and perform tasks in conditions of increased risk.

The assistance applies to employees of enterprises of all forms of ownership – state and private. Payments will be received by specialists of the fuel and energy complex, housing and communal services and railway workers “Ukrzaliznytsia” – from foremen to ordinary workers involved in the restoration of infrastructure.

The mechanism for accruing funds is maximally digitalized. First, a Unified List of enterprises performing critical work is formed, after which the enterprise submits lists of employees through a special portal. Each specialist will receive confirmation of the right to payment through the “Diya” application or SMS, and the money will be automatically transferred to existing bank accounts in the month following the month in which the work was carried out.

The state assumes the financial burden to support those who ensure the restoration of light, heat, and rail connections during energy challenges. As specified by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the first payments for emergency repair crews will arrive in February.

“People who work around the clock in extremely difficult conditions, in the cold, often under fire, with constant risk to their lives, deserve the gratitude of the state. It is thanks to their work that light and warmth return to Ukrainians’ homes in record time after the most difficult massive attacks,”, – the head of government noted.
