The Verkhovna Rada supported the extension of martial law in Ukraine until February 3, 2026
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the extension of martial law until February 3, 2026. 317 people’s deputies voted for the bill No. 14128. Martial law and general mobilization will be extended from November 5, 2025. The corresponding broadcast of the VRU meeting was published by the Rada TV channel.
This is the seventeenth vote on this issue in the current convocation of the parliament. The day before, two draft laws were registered on the website of the Verkhovna Rada — No. 14128 and No. 14129, which concern the approval of decrees of the President of Ukraine: one on the extension of the term of martial law, the other on the extension of the term of general mobilization.
Martial law expands the powers of government bodies, military command, local administrations and self-government, which makes it possible to more effectively coordinate the defense of the state and ensure the safety of the population in conditions of threat.
Let us recall that martial law in Ukraine has been in effect since February 24, 2022 — the day Russia began its full-scale invasion. According to the Constitution, it is extended every 90 days.
On July 15, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a decision to extend martial law and general mobilization for the sixteenth time. On July 25, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed these laws.
