In Ukraine, they plan to change the “philosophy” of social security payments due to their excessive number

Ukraine is preparing to review the “philosophy” of social payments in connection with the excessive number of obligations that are not supported by financial resources, with the aim of optimizing them and increasing targeting. This was announced by the Minister of Social Policy, Oksana Zholnovich, write “UNN”.

This imbalance results in a large number of unenforceable judgments, she said.

“We have assumed an excessive amount of social obligations, regarding social payments, which cannot always be confirmed by financial resources. And this imbalance entails a huge number of lawsuits, which cannot be fulfilled from the point of view of the economy’s ability to cover such expenses.”, – claims Zholnovich.

The head of the department reminded that in Ukraine the social budget ranks second after the defense budget. Work on the draft law on basic social assistance, which will combine the number of differentiated payments, has already been completed.

Oksana Zholnovich emphasized that this is a huge amount that needs to be optimized, taking into account the growing number of people who are on the verge of poverty and other vulnerable groups.

“We cannot increase such a resource for social expenses, we must optimize it and make it as targeted as possible. We are working on revising the philosophy of social payments. So that each of these payments has a clear goal – to get a person out of a difficult life situation and must be fully “related to a service that will help a person become economically independent”Zholnovich informed.
