In Ukraine, they will create a map of the availability of the Internet and communication by population centers: details

The National Commission, which carries out state regulation in the fields of electronic communications, announced the creation of an interactive map that will allow Ukrainians to track the availability of Internet and mobile communications in any populated place in the country.
According to NKEK, the goal of the project is to ensure the maximum coverage of the territory of Ukraine with communication services and to identify “white spots” – places where there is no access to the Internet and communication.
This is stated in messages NKEK on Facebook.
How will it work?
From July 1, 2024, the National Commission will start conducting geographic surveys, collecting data from communication operators about the availability of their services in different regions.
This information will be visualized on an interactive map where users can view:
- Which providers work in a specific settlement.
- What type of coverage is available (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, fixed internet).
- What is the quality of communication in a certain area.
Why is this necessary?
- For consumers: the opportunity to choose the best provider and tariff plan, taking into account the specifics of coverage in their region.
- For operators: understanding where to improve coverage and expand networks.
- To the state: a tool for analyzing the state of development of the communication infrastructure and making decisions about its improvement.
