In Zaporizhzhia, a man was detained who walked around the city in the uniform of the Third Reich with a grenade in his hands
In Zaporizhzhia, law enforcement officers detained a 42-year-old local resident who went out in the uniform of the Nazi army of the Second World War with a grenade in his hands. The incident took place in the Shevchenkiv district of the city – the man himself simply went out into the street, without disguise or fear, demonstratively holding a dangerous ammunition. About this informs GU of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The police drew attention to him because of his unusual appearance – in the military uniform of the Third Reich, he looked like a live set for a film about the Nazi occupation. And although the detainee himself later assured that he bought the uniform on the Internet “for the sake of a joke”, the joke turned into criminal proceedings for him and the threat of up to seven years of imprisonment, because the “decoration of the image” – a grenade – turned out to be quite real.
After the arrest, the police searched the suspect’s residence, and what they saw turned a curiosity into a serious criminal case. In the detainee’s apartment, operatives and investigators found a real arsenal: a machine gun, a grenade launcher with 14 charges, six grenades, four detonators, an anti-personnel mine, a long-range detonation line and almost 400 cartridges of various calibers. In addition, an order with Nazi symbols was found – another “adventure” that raises serious questions.
All seized weapons and ammunition were sent for expert research. And already on May 2, after analyzing the collected evidence, investigators under the procedural leadership of the Orihiv Department of the Pologh District Prosecutor’s Office declared the man a suspect under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives. The court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The police are investigating the source of the ammunition, the purpose of its storage, and possible connections of the detainee with radical or pro-Russian organizations.
