Inspectors of the Educational Security Service have started work in 20 regions of Ukraine

The educational process in Ukraine takes place under conditions of increased threat caused by the ongoing military conflict. Ensuring the safety of students and teachers has become one of the government’s key priorities as it works to implement new measures to protect educational institutions across the country. This initiative is aimed at creating a safe learning environment where every participant in the educational process can feel protected and confident in their future.
Since the beginning of this week, inspectors of the Educational Security Service have started their work all over Ukraine. This new structure, which is part of comprehensive measures to ensure safety in schools, covered 763 secondary education institutions in 20 regions. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine.
According to Klymenko’s statement, by the end of 2024, it is planned to provide police presence in up to 2,000 schools across the country. For this, new recruits undergo specialized training that will prepare them to work in conditions of increased threat. This will significantly increase the level of security in schools, where the educational process may be vulnerable to external threats.
In addition, the minister noted that the National Police is gradually introducing new technical measures and updating patrol routes. These routes now pass as close as possible to educational institutions, which ensures a quick response in case of danger. Special attention is paid to escorting school buses, which adds an additional level of safety for children who use this transport every day.
In addition, juvenile police officers, school police officers and community officers continue to work with students. These specialists are actively involved in working with children, providing not only protection, but also educational and preventive measures aimed at forming a responsible and conscious citizen.
The formation of the Educational Security Service was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmygal back in January 2024, and now we see the results of this initiative in practice. In the conditions of war, such measures become vitally necessary, because they not only protect the lives of children, but also strengthen the belief that the state is able to ensure the safety of every citizen, even in the most difficult times.
In general, the introduction of the Educational Security Service is an important step in ensuring the security of the educational process in Ukraine.
