Internet cable damage recorded between Sweden and Finland

On the morning of December 3, a break in the Internet cable between Sweden and Finland was discovered. About this informs the Swedish television company SVT. According to the report, the damage occurred on the territory of Finland. Finnish police suspect that this may have been the result of deliberate actions.
“Finnish police are investigating what happened and, given the circumstances of the incident, suspect sabotage,” – noted the Minister of Civil Defense Karl-Oscar Bolin.
Damage was caused to the networks of the Swedish company Global Connect, which has already started repair work. One damage was recorded in Espoo, the other in Vihda, the company representative said. According to him, about 6,000 households and about 100 business customers in Finland were left without Internet as a result of the incident on December 2.
Minister of Transport and Communications of Finland Lulu Ranne reported, that authorities are cooperating with the company to investigate the incident.
“We take this situation seriously”, – she emphasized.
