Iran announced an attack on the American military at the Al-Udeid base in Qatar. This was announced on state television to the accompaniment of martial arts music. On the screen, the accompanying text called it “a powerful and successful response by the Iranian armed forces to America’s aggression.” Iran’s IRIB TV also reported the start of the “Basharat al-Fath” operation against US bases.
The Qatari side claims that the country’s air defenses intercepted the missile strike. According to media reports, Iran fired approximately ten missiles at American targets in Qatar. Qatar has officially condemned Iran’s attack on an American base located within its territory. Authorities reported that there were no reports of casualties or other incidents as a result of the strike. The strike came shortly after Qatar temporarily closed its airspace in response to threats from Iran.
It is also reported that Iran launched one missile over the territory of Iraq. Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said that the attack on the Al-Udeid base is “a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and airspace, as well as the UN charter.”
“We, in the State of Qatar, reserve the right to respond directly… to this blatant aggression in accordance with international law”, – emphasized al-Ansari.
He added that the Qatari air defense system successfully repelled the attack.
