The Israeli army carried out an attack on the leadership of the Palestinian group Hamas in the capital of Qatar – Doha. According to CNN, among the dead was the main spokesman of Hamas, Khalil Al-Hayya.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the attack on the top leadership of the terrorist organization Hamas. It emphasized that for many years these representatives of the Hamas leadership organized the group’s operations, were responsible for the October 7 massacre and directed the war against Israel.
“Prior to the strike, measures were taken to reduce harm to the civilian population, including the use of precision munitions and additional intelligence”, the statement said.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Majed Al-Ansari, called this strike “cowardly” and a “criminal attack”, which is a “flagrant violation of international law and norms”.
“Strongly condemning this attack, the State of Qatar emphasizes that it will not tolerate such reckless and irresponsible behavior by Israel”, Al-Ansari said.
Iran also condemned the Israeli strike. The country, which has been observing a truce with Israel since the end of June after the destruction of a number of its nuclear facilities, called Tel Aviv’s actions a violation of international norms. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai said that this is a “gross violation of international law” and “violation of the national sovereignty of Qatar and the Palestinian negotiators”. According to him, the event should be a “serious warning for the region and the international community”.
