Israeli diplomat says he does not consider Russia an enemy

Israel does not see Russia as an enemy, although relations between the two countries remain complicated. Despite the difficulties, these relations are important to Israel’s strategic interests, especially given Russia’s influence on the situation in the Middle East. About this stated Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the State of Israel Michael Brodsky.

“Russia is definitely not our enemy. We have a difficult relationship with it, but we maintain mutual relations with Russia, because it is important for our strategic interests – especially considering the role it plays in the Middle East.” – emphasized the ambassador.

At the same time, Brodsky noted that after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as well as in connection with the position Russia took after the events of October 7, contacts between Israel and Russia were as limited as possible.

“At the same time, after the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war and taking into account the position that Russia took after October 7, contacts with this country have been reduced to a minimum – the minimum that is necessary from the point of view of Israel’s interests.” – explained the diplomat.

The ambassador also emphasized that Israel’s policy is based on pragmatism and consideration of the complex international context, particularly in the Middle East. This approach allows Israel to maintain a balance between security, diplomatic initiatives and the need to protect its interests in the changing geopolitical situation.
