Fico expressed support for Orban and criticized Zelensky’s statement about 90 billion euros of blocked EU loan
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his allusion to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán during a discussion on ending the blocking of a 90 billion euro European Union loan by one person. Fico wrote about this on the social network X.
The Prime Minister of Slovakia published a video of Zelensky’s speech, where he noted: “if one person in the EU blocks €90 billion, he will give the address of this person to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
After that, Fico expressed “full solidarity” with his Hungarian counterpart Orban. He noted: “If the President of Ukraine continues to behave like this, it may happen that other EU member states will also block a loan for Ukraine in the amount of 90 billion.”
The Prime Minister of Slovakia has appealed to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Council António Costa and the EU’s chief diplomat Kai Kallas with a request to “distance themselves from the outrageous blackmailing statements of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky”.
The Hungarian government previously stated that it considers Zelensky’s statements to be an “open threat”.
