It is increasingly difficult for the US to finance aid to Ukraine, Kyiv needs to find its own resources: Pritzker

The US special representative is convinced that regardless of the election results, Washington will continue to support Kyiv.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for the US government to find funds to provide assistance to Kyiv, which prompts consideration of new options for sources of support instead of direct budget assistance. Penny Pritzker, the US special representative for the economic recovery of Ukraine, stated this during a speech at the thematic discussion at the analytical Brookings Institute (Washington).

“In my opinion, the challenge is to find resources and determine how much money we are ready to allocate for these needs. We have already begun to consider alternative options instead of direct budget support to Ukraine. This is becoming an increasingly important challenge for us.”Pritzker noted.

She added that the Ukrainian government also needs to look for ways to increase revenues to its budget if Kyiv seeks to gain advantages on the battlefield against the Russian Federation. Pritzker expressed confidence that bipartisan support for Ukraine will continue regardless of the outcome of the upcoming US presidential election in November.

Pritzker emphasized that the US is currently looking for alternative ways of providing assistance to Ukraine, in particular through financial instruments, international investments and grant programs. According to her, this will help not only to support the Ukrainian economy, but also to make it more resistant to external challenges.

The Ukrainian government is recommended to intensify efforts to increase domestic revenues, which includes an effective tax policy, the fight against corruption and the stimulation of economic growth. Pritzker emphasized the importance of Kyiv’s independent actions to ensure financial stability and strengthen its position in the war with the Russian Federation.

Pritzker assured that bipartisan US support for Ukraine will remain stable, regardless of who becomes the next president. This indicates a deep understanding of the importance of supporting Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty and territorial integrity among American political leaders.
