It is worth several million: the head of the NBU named the most expensive coin in Ukraine

Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pishnyi told about one of the most expensive coins in the history of Ukraine, minted on the occasion of a significant sports event. He also suggested how its value has changed on the secondary market today.

According to Pyshny, the most expensive Ukrainian coin at the moment is the gold coin issued in 2012, dedicated to the “Final Tournament of the European Football Championship”. This unique coin, created in honor of Euro 2012, has a weight of 0.5 kg and is made of pure gold. The mintage of the coin was limited – only more than 100 copies, which gives it additional value among collectors.

In 2012, the value of this coin was about 350 thousand hryvnias. However, now its market price has increased significantly. Andriy Pishnyi suggested that such a coin could be worth several million hryvnias on the secondary market, given its uniqueness, limited edition and high value of the material.

In addition to this coin, the assortment of the National Bank of Ukraine includes other precious coins created from gold and dedicated to important cultural and historical themes, such as the Bosporus Kingdom, the Chersonese, and the Ostroh Bible. The price of such coins in the official store of the NBU is 117,227 hryvnias.

At the same time, the value of gold coins can vary significantly depending on their theme, mass and rarity. For example, some coins are sold at prices ranging from 5,515 hryvnias to more than 117,000 hryvnias per copy. This wide price range shows the diversity of the collection market in Ukraine and the great interest in such exclusive coins from both collectors and investors.
