Kirill Budanov assessed the risks of a nuclear strike by the Russian Federation (video)
Fears circulating in society about a possible nuclear strike by Russia are currently unfounded. At the same time, the country’s arsenal remains a serious threat, since Moscow has the technical ability to strike at any time and at any distance.
This was stated in an interview with the British publication The Times by the former head of military intelligence, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov. According to him, there are currently no indicators that Russia is ready to strike Kyiv with weapons of mass destruction.
«I have not seen any indicators of preparations for a nuclear strike, — the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine noted.
At the same time, Kyrylo Budanov emphasized that the use of such weapons is primarily a political decision, and intelligence does not record any indicators of strategic planning of such an attack.
«If there had been preparations, I would have known about it, — he assured.
Previously, fearing possible strikes on Red Square in Moscow during such so-called Victory Parade, on the eve of May 9, Russian propagandists began publicly threatening to carry out retaliatory strikes on the government quarter in Kyiv.
Such statements by representatives of the Russian media space are an element of informational and psychological pressure on Ukrainian society and the state leadership. Official security and defense bodies of Ukraine continue to monitor the situation around the clock and check any changes in the operational readiness of Russia’s strategic forces to prevent possible challenges.
