Konotop has no funds to restore water supply after a missile attack: the mayor (video)

After the rocket attack on Konotop that happened on September 11, the mayor of the city, Artem Semenikhin, made a critical statement, emphasizing the catastrophic situation with funding in the city. After shelling, which damaged the infrastructure, the city was left without electricity and water supply. As a result, the water utility faced the impossibility of providing residents with a sufficient amount of water due to a lack of fuel for generators.
“There is not a penny! Thank you to the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, who took taxes from local budgets. I do not have the funds to buy a diesel engine for the water supply company and give people enough water”, – said the mayor.
The mayor emphasized that after the adoption of the new tax legislation, local budgets were significantly affected, which limits the ability to quickly respond to emergency situations. According to him, the city is now in a critical financial situation, which does not allow to properly restore the infrastructure after the shelling.
We will remind you that on the night of September 11-12, Russian troops launched a massive missile attack on Konotop, Sumy region. As a result of the attack, several hits were recorded in residential areas and critical infrastructure of the city. The city was left without electricity, and the water supply was disrupted due to damage to the networks. Mayor Semenikhin noted that the number of victims is still being determined, but there is information about wounded civilians.
The issue of water supply has become particularly critical, as the water utility cannot function properly due to the lack of diesel fuel for the generators needed to restore the system. Semenikhin appealed to the deputies to review the approaches to financing local budgets in order to prevent similar situations in the future.
