The SBI reported that the former head of the Ombudsman’s Secretariat was suspected of official negligence

DBR employees reported about the suspicion to the former head of the Secretariat of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights. She is accused of official negligence, which led to losses to the state of more than 1.6 million hryvnias. Suspicion was declared for the procedural management of the prosecutors of the General Prosecutor’s Office under Part 2 of Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation established that in May 2021, the official, acting contrary to the requirements of the Budget Code, signed a lease agreement for non-residential premises in Kyiv for the needs of the Secretariat without proper economic justification. At the same time, the rent turned out to be twice as high as the market rent. Despite this, during 2021-2022, she continued to sign acts of acceptance and transfer, on the basis of which more than 3.1 million hryvnias of budget funds were transferred to the lessor.

According to the conclusions of the examination, the overestimation of the rent amounted to more than 1.5 million hryvnias, which led to significant losses of the state budget. The former official has already been served with a petition to choose a preventive measure. The pre-trial investigation in this case is ongoing, it is being conducted by the SBI employees.

We would like to remind you that according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and is not subject to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by law and confirmed by a guilty verdict.
