Kyiv law enforcement officers exposed a scheme to sell “fake” drones worth over UAH 2 million

A group of individuals posing as sellers of quadcopters for the military and using fictitious advertisements to defraud citizens of over two million hryvnias was exposed in Kyiv. This was reported by the National Police, citing materials from the Podilskyi Department and the procedural guidance of the District Prosecutor’s Office of the capital.

According to the investigation, three individuals were involved in the scam. A 30-year-old businesswoman, together with her mother and a familiar man, spread offers for “deliveries” DJI Mavic in specialized Telegram channels. The customers transferred the money for the alleged goods to the accounts of fictitious individual entrepreneurs, after which the connection with the “sellers” disappeared.

“It is currently documented that under this scheme, three accomplices defrauded a volunteer of over 500,000 UAH, “selling” him non-existent drones. Subsequently, two of the above-mentioned “entrepreneurs” seized more than 1.5 million UAH of funds from a company that wanted to purchase drones for transfer to the military, ”, – noted the investigator of the investigative department Anastasia Boyko.

Investigators have already reported a 30-year-old woman and her 28-year-old accomplice in absentia on suspicion – under Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This is a large-scale fraud committed by a group of persons and under martial law.

A 53-year-old Kyiv resident was also reported on suspicion, who, according to the investigation, was involved in the appropriation of part of the funds. Her actions were qualified under Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Prosecutors are currently deciding on a preventive measure.
