“Kyivstar” submitted a request to AMCU to acquire a share of the cloud operator GigaCloud
The largest operator in Ukraine “Kyivstar” submitted an application to the Antimonopoly Committee (AMCU) to acquire a stake in the cloud services provider GigaCloud, reports the company at the request of Forbes.
“Kyivstar” is considering the possibility of investing in the largest Ukrainian provider of cloud solutions GigaCloud, according to the press service of the company. One of the key elements of the strategic development of “Kyivstar” as a digital operator, there are investments in the development of innovative technologies and new services. For this purpose, the company is considering the possibility of investing in GigaCloud”, – the company notes.
“Kyivstar” does not disclose the investment amount and the share it plans to acquire. Currently, the request to the AMCU has already been submitted, but the final agreement has not yet been signed, the press service adds. 31% of GigaCloud’s shares belong to Oleg Polishchuk, another 45% to the company’s current CEO, Nazariy Kurochko, according to YouControl. The remaining shares are owned by Cypriot and Maltese companies. GigaCloud’s revenue in 2024 amounted to UAH 410 million, which is 29% more than in 2023.
“Investment in GigaCloud will be a logical step in building an integrated digital ecosystem, as well as an important stage in the development of cloud services and business scaling on the way to fulfilling VEON’s investment commitments of $1 billion during the years 2023-2027”, the company explained.
