Labels with information on emissions and fuel consumption will appear on new cars in Ukraine
The government has adopted a resolution that obliges sellers of new passenger cars to provide buyers with information on official fuel consumption and the amount of CO₂ emissions. About this reported Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.
This is a requirement of the European Parliament and the Council, which the EU introduced more than 20 years ago. According to the decree, in car showrooms and other places where new cars are sold, there must be labels with data on fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions next to each car, posters or electronic displays with information about all models that are put up for sale, promotional materials with the same data and access to an electronic guide with official information.
The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development will develop this electronic directory, which will contain data on fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions for all new car models. The directory will be posted on the website of the Ministry of Development and updated every year.
“We are introducing European standards for informing car buyers. This is the protection of consumer rights, the support of fair competition and a step towards reducing the impact of transport on the climate. Ukrainians will be able to choose a car consciously, and businesses will receive clear rules that are already in force in the EU, – noted Economy Minister Oleksiy Sobolev.
The new rules will enter into force 9 months after the publication of the resolution.
