Mykhailo Drapaty became the new commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Mykhailo Drapatoy has been appointed as the new commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi after the meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
“Together with the Central Committee, several personnel decisions were made for our army. Mykhailo Drapaty was appointed as the new commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleg Apostol was appointed as the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.”, – said Zelenskyi.
The President emphasized that Mykhailo Drapaty demonstrated successful leadership during the defense of the Kharkiv direction, where it was possible to thwart the offensive actions of Russian troops. Colonel Oleg Apostol, in turn, has rich experience as the commander of the 95th separate amphibious assault brigade. Both officers have repeatedly proven their effectiveness in combat.
Drapaty also distinguished himself as one of the commanders who led the liberation of the right-bank part of the Kherson region. In February 2024, he was appointed deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in May of the same year he headed the Kharkiv Operational Tactical Group.
Zelenskyi emphasized that today the key priorities are to strengthen the combat capability of the Ukrainian army, ensure a high level of military training and introduce modern approaches to management in the Armed Forces.
