Lviv International Airport may resume its work at the end of spring

Danylo Halytsky Lviv International Airport can resume its work at the end of this spring. About this reported general director of the airport Tetyana Romanovska.
According to her, in case of a positive development of events, in particular, regarding the possible end of the war in April-May 2025, the airport in Lviv can resume international flights. Another possible option for opening the skies for air flights is being considered this summer.
Romanovska noted that in the event of the opening of the airport, 5-7 airlines are ready to operate within the first month. Among them are Wizzair, Air Baltic, Turkish Airlines, Sky Up, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and LOT. Representatives of these airlines have already conducted appropriate audits in preparation for the possible resumption of flights. According to Romanovska, Sky Up, which has a developed network of charter flights in Europe, is considering the option of resuming charter flights from Lviv or from other Ukrainian cities. In particular, the company is ready to adapt its routes depending on the decision to open the sky.
The government of Ukraine is also considering the possibility of opening another airport in the west of the country — in Uzhhorod. This will expand opportunities for international air traffic in the region.
“Representatives of the Sky Up airline company have already conducted a preliminary analysis, and Wizzair completed its audit last year. In the event of a decision to resume flights, airline representatives are ready to come to Lviv within three to four days to set up work.” added Romanovska.
The general director emphasized that opening the airport in the summer period is the most optimal option, since it is during this period that the largest passenger flow occurs due to vacations and long summer days. At the same time, if the airport can open already in April-May, it will be a significant advantage for the region and for the development of air traffic in Ukraine.
