Macron announced France’s recognition of the state of Palestine
France officially recognizes the state of Palestine to stop the spiral of violence, secure the release of Hamas hostages and end the Israeli operation in Gaza, paving the way for a peaceful settlement. This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron during the high-level international conference on the settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state principle.
“Faithful to its historic commitments in the Middle East, France today recognizes the state of Palestine,– solemnly announced Macron to the applause of diplomats.
According to him, France has always supported Israel when it comes to its security.
“Recognition of the State of Palestine – this is a defeat for Hamas, this recognition paves the way for meaningful negotiations. It carries the ambition to break the spiral of violence, – emphasized the French president, speaking first among the 39 leaders scheduled for the conference.
Macron stressed that it was time to secure the release of the 48 hostages and stop the mass killings in Gaza. He believes that the leaders of the countries are collectively responsible for the inability to achieve a just and lasting peace, and the promise of creating an Arab state still remains unfulfilled.
The French president announced his intention to launch a peace mechanism that would take into account the interests of all parties:
“The first phase of this peace and security plan is the absolute urgency of releasing the 48 hostages and ending Israeli military operations throughout Gaza.
The second stage, according to Macron, will be the stabilization and reconstruction of Gaza:
“The transitional administration, which includes the Palestinian Authority, the Palestinian youth, accompanied by security forces that we are accelerating training, will have a monopoly on security in Gaza. It will dismantle and disarm Hamas with the support of international partners and resources that will be necessary for this difficult mission.
We will remind you that on September 12, the UN General Assembly by a majority of votes expressed support for the decision to create two states to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and called on Israel to recognize Palestine as a state.
