Mobilization in Ukraine: who can be sent to the front without preparation

General mobilization is ongoing in Ukraine, as part of which conscripts receive summonses and join various units of the Defense Forces. Press Secretary of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Territorial Center for Staffing and Social Support (TCC and SP) Olena Kuzina in live broadcast telethon on December 14 explained in which cases Ukrainians can be sent to the front without training.
According to Olena Kuzina, those who have military experience and served in the army less than 10 years ago can immediately enter the service. These are, for example, persons who served in military service or took part in anti-terrorist operations/revolutionary forces, but later resigned from the ranks of the Armed Forces. Such servicemen can return to the army under contract without the need for retraining.
If the break in service exceeds 10 years, a person is obliged to undergo training at one of the training centers, regardless of previous experience.
The press secretary also emphasized the differences between mobilized and contract workers. Individuals who choose a contract service have more opportunities to choose the place of service and conditions.
“Contract workers can apply directly to the recruiting departments of the TCC and SP, to the recruiting centers of the Ukrainian army, or to the recruiting centers of combat brigades. They receive a full social package, which includes medical care, financial support, as well as payments for the conclusion of the first contract.” — said Olena Kuzina.
In addition, contract workers are paid accommodation allowance upon arrival at the duty station. If it is necessary to rent housing, the expenses for this will be compensated. Contract workers also have the opportunity to obtain a higher military education at specialized educational institutions for free.
There is a selection process for new recruits, which includes a medical examination at the Military Medical Commission (MMC), as well as, depending on the unit, a psychological test and a test of physical fitness. The contract is concluded not in the TCC, but directly in the military unit or training center chosen by the candidate.
Both men and women can sign the contract. The choice of place of service and tasks depends on the state of health, physical abilities and professional experience of the recruit. Previous civilian experience that can be useful in the service is also taken into account.
After receiving a summons, a conscript has a choice: to join the service by mobilization or to sign a contract. As Kuzina explained, contract service gives more opportunities to choose the conditions and place of service.
“If you choose a contract service, you have more options to choose what you want,” – said the press secretary.
We remind you that summonses can be delivered not only in person, but also sent via electronic messages, for example, in the Viber messenger. Lawyers urge citizens to be attentive to such messages and to treat mobilization procedures responsibly.
