Moldova will not mind if Ukraine helps Transnistria with energy resources

Official Chisinau will not object if Ukraine provides assistance to unrecognized Transnistria in the face of an energy crisis in order to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe in the region. About this stated Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recan.

“We did not ask Kyiv for any help in this sense, but we would agree if Kyiv offered help. For example, it is possible to supply coal, if there is a request for this from the Transnistrian region, from the management of the power plant in Kuchurgan (in Transnistria).” , Dorin Rechan noted.

According to experts, the supply of gas appears to be a much better option than coal, because it will also allow the start-up of boiler plants that operate on gas in Transnistrian cities. Ukraine’s offer to help Transnistria resolve the energy crisis caused by the cessation of Russian gas supplies may change the Kremlin’s calculations.

Such a move is capable of disrupting plans to accuse the President of Moldova, Maya Sanda, of creating a humanitarian crisis and to present pro-Russian politicians as “saviors” who allegedly agreed with Moscow. The refusal of the leadership of the unrecognized region to accept gas aid from Moldova and the denial of the existence of such proposals indicate the expectation of a different scenario for solving the crisis.
