Musk got into a physical altercation with the US Treasury Secretary, Trump called Elon a “hard-core drug addict”: The Washington Post
In mid-April, there was a conflict between American billionaire Elon Musk and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, which turned into a physical confrontation. About it on June 7 reported edition of The Washington Post with reference to the statement of former adviser to Trump and podcaster Stephen Bannon.
According to Bannon, Musk and Bessent entered the Oval Office together to present Trump with their proposals for the nomination to serve as interim head of the Internal Revenue Service. The President made a decision in favor of Bessent. After that, already in the corridor, a verbal altercation began between them.
During the argument, Bessent referred to Musk’s public declarations that he intended to expose the misuse of more than $1 trillion in the state budget, a promise that Bessent said Musk has never followed through on. In the conversation, he accused Musk of fraud.
According to Bannon, in response, Musk allegedly deliberately hit Bessent with his shoulder in the chest “like a rugby player.” Bessent hit back, after which several people stepped in to separate them. Musk was eventually led out of the West Wing of the White House, according to witnesses.
After the incident, Bannon said, President Trump, learning about the fight, commented on the situation with the words: “This is too much.”
In addition, US President Donald Trump, in private conversations with US officials, called Elon Musk a “hardened drug addict”. According to the Washington Post, the billionaire’s drug use could be one of the reasons for their estrangement.
As the publication notes, Donald Trump usually does not hesitate to openly criticize his opponents, but in the case of Elon Musk, he showed a slightly more restrained attitude. In particular, the president urged his associates, including Vice President JD Vance, not to escalate the situation and refrain from public outbursts.
Despite this, Trump warned that Musk would face “serious consequences” if, after the conflict with him, he decided to financially support the Democratic Party. Also, the head of the White House said that he has no intention of establishing relations with Musk and accused the billionaire of disdain for the presidency, which, in his opinion, is unacceptable.
