Mykolaiv will receive fresh water for the first time since 2022
Inhabitants of Mykolaiv will receive fresh water for the first time since 2022, which will completely replace saline water in the city’s systems within two weeks. This became possible thanks to the launch of a new main water pipeline, reports Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
Vodogin will supply 120,000 cubic meters of water per day for households and another 50,000 for irrigation of agricultural land.
“Pipes and pumps are placed underground, shelters for workers are currently being completed. There are remote controls, a power reserve and a system to protect against attacks. Construction is already at the final stage, Svyridenko noted.
She reminded that last year almost nine billion hryvnias were allocated from the state budget for the construction of a new water intake system from the Southern Bug River. Construction work started in January 2025, and in August, a test run of the water pump was carried out. Currently, water is already being supplied to the systems and reservoirs of the water utility.
We will remind you that in 2022, Russian troops blew up the main water pipeline that supplied Mykolaiv. Since then, half a million residents of the city remained without a stable water supply.
