NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte met with Donald Trump to discuss global security issues
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte held a meeting with the newly elected US President Donald Trump to discuss, in particular, the situation in Ukraine. About this reported in the Alliance.
The talks took place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida. According to NATO, they focused on key issues of global security, but the details of the discussion are not disclosed.
In addition, Rutte and his team met with Congressman Mike Waltz and members of Trump’s national security team.
Previously, the NATO Secretary General expressed his desire to discuss challenges with Trump, in particular, the possible strengthening of cooperation between North Korea and Russia.
“What we’re seeing more and more often is that North Korea, Iran, China and of course Russia are working together, working together against Ukraine.”, — said Rutte at a meeting of European leaders in Budapest.
He also emphasized that Russia should be responsible for the supply of technology to the DPRK.
Donald Trump’s position on Ukraine remains ambiguous. During the election campaign, he promised a quick end to the war, saying he could do it within 24 hours. Trump referred to his relationship with both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
At the same time, he repeatedly threatened to end financial support to Ukraine and “exit” the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, leaving the question of his real intentions open.
