Nauseda: the deployment of NATO nuclear weapons in Poland is a deterrent, not a threat

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda expressed his support for the idea of deploying NATO nuclear weapons in Poland. He believes that this will be a deterrent and will meet Europe’s security aspirations.
This is reported Delphi.
“Of course, recently there have been events that increase the presence of military force in our neighborhood – in particular, the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, this is the reality today, both in the Kaliningrad region and, as far as we know, in the territory of Belarus. Therefore, the idea of deploying nuclear weapons is not an incitement to war, is not a threat to Russia, but it is again an element of the deterrence system, which should play a really significant deterrent factor and force“, Nauseda noted.
His statement came after Polish President Andrzej Duda announced his readiness to deploy NATO allies’ nuclear weapons on his territory. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk did not support this idea, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg noted that the Alliance has no plans to increase the number of nuclear-armed countries.
