Negotiations between Ukrainian and US delegations on a peace plan have concluded in Berlin
On December 15, a series of talks between the Ukrainian and American delegations dedicated to discussing the peace plan ended in Berlin. The meeting lasted for the second day in a row, but the details of the agreements have not yet been made public. This was reported to journalists by Dmytro Lytvyn, an advisor to the President of Ukraine.
According to him, the talks began at around 11:00 local time and lasted about two hours. The event was again attended by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. As Lytvyn noted, the head of state will comment on the results only after the negotiations are completed.
Also, on December 15, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloni, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb are expected to arrive in Berlin. President Zelensky’s meeting with European leaders is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Kyiv time.
On December 14, negotiations took place between President Zelensky and the American delegation regarding the US peace plan. US Special Representative for Ukraine, Steve Witkoff, reported “significant progress” in the discussions.
According to Reuters, during the meeting, Zelensky proposed abandoning Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO in exchange for Western security guarantees in the event of another Russian attack. There has been no official comment from the Ukrainian president on this matter yet.
