Newly mobilised man dies in Rivne: relatives report beating
Recently mobilized soldier Yuriy Protsyk died in the Rivne Regional Hospital, and his relatives suspect that beatings may have been the cause. Sister Maria Protsyk told about the last days of his life in social networks, expressing doubts about the circumstances of his death.
According to Maria, Yury was detained in Novoyavorivsk and taken to a military unit in Lviv. The next day, October 17, he informed his parents that he was being taken to Rivne. On October 18, communication with him was a little unusual, but it did not cause alarming suspicions. However, already on October 19, Yurii spoke incoherently, as if delirious, and remembered that he was in a locked room with another man, who informed his relatives of his exact location. After 3:00 p.m. that day, contact with him was lost.
The next day, when Yuriy did not get in touch, his parents went to the military unit, where they were told that he had been transferred or that he had disappeared. It was hinted at the screening that one of the conscripts had been sent to a psychiatric hospital, but later it was clarified that it was not their son. Relatives, full of anxiety, returned home.
On October 22, they learned that Yuriy was in the Rivne drug dispensary, after which he was transferred to the regional hospital. The next day, a message was received about his death, but the cause was not explained, noting that the information would be provided after the forensic examination.
The official conclusion states that the cause of death was multiple organ failure and pancreatic necrosis. However, Maria is convinced that there were traces of beatings on Yuriy’s body. The military and the hospital have not yet commented on the incident, leaving relatives with many questions and doubts about the true circumstances of the tragedy.
