On the Day of Knowledge, the Russian Federation hit Kharkiv University with a FAB-500: 14 injured
On September 2, the Kharkiv district of Kyiv was heavily shelled by Russian troops, which resulted in significant destruction of one of the city’s leading higher education institutions. Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleg Synegubov reported in Telegram that the number of victims has increased to 14 people. Among them are students and employees of the university who were in the educational buildings at the time of the attack.
The photos published by Synegubov show the extent of the destruction: the explosions damaged not only the educational facilities, but also the sports infrastructure of the university, including the swimming pool.
Mykola Zhukovsky National Aerospace University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute” confirmed that its territory was hit. The university press service published a touching description of how staff and students survived this tragic moment.
“The working day at Khai Khai on September 2 will be remembered, unfortunately, by a loud explosion and broken windows, drops of blood from those who were cut”, – indicated in the message.
According to preliminary data, the shelling was carried out with the help of FAB-500 aerial bombs, which were launched from the territory of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation. Dmytro Chubenko, the spokesman of the regional prosecutor’s office, announced this. In addition, the mayor of the city Ihor Terekhov said that the strikes caused significant damage to the residential buildings of the Kyiv district: garages were destroyed, windows were broken in the surrounding houses, and the heating line was damaged.
The Kyiv District Prosecutor’s Office of Kharkiv has started a pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). By data investigation, on September 2, between 15:20 and 15:30, the armed forces of the Russian Federation carried out air strikes on the Kyiv district of Kharkiv.
As a result of the shelling, the garage cooperative, cars, buildings of the higher education institution, the swimming pool complex and the administrative building of the sports club were damaged. Fires broke out in different parts of the city. 14 people were injured, including those who experienced acute stress.
According to preliminary information, Russian troops used FAB-500 aerial bombs using universal modular planning kits to strike the city. Currently, prosecutors and police investigators are working at the sites of shelling, recording the consequences of enemy attacks.
