Heads of NABU and SAPO discuss control over international assistance with State Department officials

NABU Director Semen Kryvonos, Head of the SAPO Oleksandr Klymenko, and a delegation from the United States, led by US State Department Inspector General Cardell Richardson, discussed control over the use of international assistance and ensuring accountability to its donors. This was reported by the NABU press service.

Richardson stressed the importance of effective control over the use of US aid, noting that trust in accountability mechanisms in Ukraine is critical for continued financial support.

Krivonos, for his part, briefed the delegation on the functioning of the anti-corruption system in Ukraine and spoke about the latest achievements of the Bureau in investigating the most high-profile corruption cases.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening the effectiveness and independence of investigations, discussing the possibility of establishing an independent expert institution under the NABU and introducing autonomous wiretapping.

Kryvonos also expressed gratitude to the US government for its continued support, particularly noting the assistance of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and other US agencies.
