PACE adopts resolution to support just peace in Ukraine

January 30 Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) confirmed a document in which she defined her position on achieving peace in Ukraine. The resolution entitled “Europe’s commitment to a just and sustainable peace in Ukraine” became a key document adopted during the winter session of 2025. 86 deputies voted for it, 6 abstained, none against.

The resolution calls for the preservation of the unity of Europe and unwavering support of Ukraine in the struggle for a just and lasting peace. The document emphasizes the principle of “peace through strength.”

“Reliable peace negotiations can be conducted only from a position of stability and strong defense capability, and a just and lasting peace is possible only if Ukraine is provided with adequate security guarantees. Any peace negotiations must take place with the participation of Ukraine and with respect for its right to determine its future.” – says the resolution.

The Assembly also emphasized that Russia is waging a war not only against Ukraine, but also carrying out hybrid aggression against other states, interfering in the political processes of the member states of the Council of Europe, which poses a threat to the democratic security of the entire continent. In this context, PACE stated that a just peace in Ukraine is necessary for the stability of the whole of Europe and the world.
