Parliament clarifies who is entitled to payments for a deceased serviceman
In the second reading, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 13129, which clarifies which of the dependents of a fallen serviceman has the right to receive one-time cash assistance from the state. About this reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
In the event of the death of a serviceman, a one-time cash benefit in the amount of 15 million hryvnias is provided. Draft Law No. 13129 specifies who among dependents is entitled to this payment.
According to the new regulations, the number of families that can receive assistance includes persons who were supported by the deceased – in particular, children, spouse, parents – and who, according to the current legislation, are entitled to a pension in the event of the loss of a breadwinner.
The law also clarifies Article 16-1 of the current legislation, establishing that family members of a deceased serviceman, conscript or reservist include dependents who are entitled to a pension in accordance with the law “On pension provision for persons released from military service and certain other persons”.
Thus, the official list of persons who can claim financial assistance now includes not only the spouse, children and parents, but also everyone who was recognized as a dependent according to the norms of the pension legislation.
