Partners allocate $20 million to support evacuated Ukrainians
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) together with international partners has allocated 20 million dollars for Ukrainian local organizations that help evacuees and vulnerable sections of the population. About this reported Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
This initiative was discussed in detail at a meeting to support the evacuated population, which was held under the leadership of the deputy head of the Office of the President, Iryna Vereshchuk. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Reintegration, international and public organizations, as well as regional military administrations.
The main areas of financing are the provision of barrier-free access, the arrangement of temporary residences for the elderly and internally displaced persons with reduced mobility. Special attention was paid to creating accessible conditions for people with disabilities.
During the meeting, Matias Shmale, coordinator of the UN system in Ukraine, emphasized that the allocated funds are aimed at supporting organizations with work experience that need additional resources to implement or expand their projects for the benefit of Ukrainian immigrants.
Shmale also assured that international organizations will continue to support evacuated Ukrainians, in particular by focusing efforts on helping vulnerable categories of the population.
