“Peace negotiations with the Russian Federation are possible through mediators”: Zelenskyi

Ukraine is considering the possibility of conducting peace negotiations with Russia with the participation of international mediators.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in an interview with the newspaper The Philadelphia Inquirer.

According to Zelenskyi, Ukraine is considering an example of resolving issues related to the Black Sea grain corridor, when international mediators, such as the UN and Turkey, helped to conclude an agreement with the Russian Federation on behalf of Ukraine.

The President noted that a similar model can be used to resolve issues of territorial integrity, energy and freedom of navigation. He expressed the hope that mediators from different countries of the world, including Europe, the USA, Asia, the Pacific region and Africa, can facilitate the conclusion of an agreement that will satisfy Ukraine and be supported by Russia.

Despite this, Russian President Vladimir Putin previously defined the conditions under which his country is ready to consider peace negotiations, in particular, the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from certain regions of Ukraine, as well as the country’s neutral status and demilitarization.

The Ukrainian and international communities reacted sharply to such conditions, expressing doubts about their acceptability and the possibility of reaching a compromise.

Zelensky called for joint efforts of all interested parties for a peaceful resolution of the conflict and expressed readiness for dialogue with the participation of international mediators as a key way to achieve stability in the region.
