Petition to reserve Ukrainians instead of attracting migrant workers has gained the required number of votes

A petition calling for limiting the involvement of foreign labor and focusing on the return of Ukrainians from abroad has collected the required 25,000 votes. It must now be considered by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The author of the petition proposes to change the approach to the labor market in Ukraine. She calls on the government to abandon the massive involvement of foreign workers and instead create conditions for the return of Ukrainian citizens who have left abroad.

The petition proposes to develop a State Strategy for Protecting the National Labor Market. Her key idea is to give preference to Ukrainian workers, in particular those who are ready to return to Ukraine and work in areas important for the economy and reconstruction of the country.

Separately, the author proposes launching the “Labor Return” program. It should provide for guaranteed reservation from mobilization for Ukrainians who return from abroad and agree to work in strategic industries.

This concerns construction, energy, industry and other areas where the state and business face an acute shortage of personnel.

The petition also proposes to prohibit issuing work permits to foreigners in industries where the shortage of workers can be closed by booking current employees or returning Ukrainians from abroad.
