Poland announced its desire to join the G20
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, after talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, said that Poland has asked Washington to support its application to join the G20. reports this TVP World.
Sikorski emphasized that the United States, which will chair the G20 in 2026, should invite Poland to this group, given that the Polish economy has reached the trillion dollar level.
“We have the right to do this not only as one of the 20 largest economies in the world, but also as a country that presents a political and intellectual argument, because we are a country that has successfully transitioned from a planned economy to a free one. We are an example for others to follow,” Sikorsky noted.
The Prime Minister of the country, Donald Tusk, announced during the opening of the government meeting that Poland has entered the twenty largest economies in the world.
He emphasized that Poland has joined the circle of states with a GDP of more than a trillion dollars:
“Poland recently joined this very exclusive club of trillionaire countries. I know it’s an abstract statistic and it’s hard to imagine what a trillion is, but it’s impressive. There are 20 such countries in the world, out of 195, 20 belong to this club of trillionaires. And as I have said many times, this is definitely not our last word.”
It is noted that Poland’s GDP exceeded a trillion US dollars, which allowed the country to surpass Switzerland in terms of this indicator.
