Police detain offender for desecrating the memory of fallen soldiers on Khreshchatyk
A high-profile incident occurred in Kyiv, which outraged the public. The man publicly expressed disdain for the dead Ukrainian soldiers who heroically gave their lives in battles with the Russian military. The event took place on Khreshchatyk, near the improvised memorial alley of fallen soldiers located on Independence Square. There, he not only used profanity, but also made provocative statements about the so-called “cult of death”, which caused a wave of indignation among citizens.
Video from the scene quickly spread on social networks. The police, responding to this incident, conducted monitoring and established the fact of public insult to the memory of defenders of Ukraine.
“During the monitoring of social networks, police officers found a video in which a man, using profanity, spoke negatively towards Ukrainian society and humiliated the military, in particular defenders who died protecting the Ukrainian people from the Russian aggressor“, – it is said in the message of the National Police.
Operatives, together with SBU employees, quickly reacted to the situation. Thanks to the concerted actions of the law enforcement officers, the violator was identified and detained near his place of residence. He has now been taken to the police for investigation.
According to preliminary data, the detainee turned out to be Denys Vitsenko, a well-known Kyiv musician, founder of several music projects and a teacher. In musical circles, he is known as the author of numerous songs and a participant in many concerts. However, his recent actions have caused strong condemnation and outrage in society.
