Police in Denmark and Norway have reported large-scale incidents involving drones
Police in Denmark and Norway reported large-scale drone incidents in Copenhagen and Oslo. This is reported by Reuters with reference to the Danish police.
In Copenhagen, all traffic at the country’s largest airport – Kastrup – was stopped due to the appearance of drones.
“The airport is currently closed to take offs and landings as 2-3 large drones have been spotted in the area. The date of resumption of work is currently unknown, the police said in a statement.
Due to reports of drones, all takeoffs and landings at Copenhagen airport have been suspended. At least 35 flights were diverted to other airports. An airport spokesman confirmed that traffic was completely suspended, but declined to comment further. Eyewitnesses reported that passenger planes were circling in the sky, waiting for permission to land.
At 23:00 local time, one of the planes made an emergency landing because it did not have enough fuel to divert to another airport, despite the closure of the airspace. Around 1:00 a.m., the Copenhagen airport resumed operations. It was closed for about four hours.
At around 21:00 local time, a similar situation occurred in Oslo. There, the military recorded drones over the Akershus fortress. Norwegian police reported the arrest of two Singaporeans. Oslo Gardermoen Airport was also closed after several drones were spotted over the airport.
The first reports of their appearance came at 11:30 p.m. At first, all traffic was diverted to one lane, but later a drone was again detected in the sky, after which the airport was completely closed.
“The airspace over Oslo airport is closed due to a new drone detection”, confirmed communications manager Monika Fasting.
Let us remind you that on September 21, two German Eurofighter fighters took off from the air base to intercept a Russian Il-20M reconnaissance aircraft flying over the Baltic Sea with transponders turned off.
