Polish Defense Minister Calls on Ukraine to Choose Military Targets for UAV Strikes on Russia More Accurately

Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosińska-Kamiś stated that Ukraine should more precisely define military targets for drone strikes on Russian territory in order not to create threats to NATO countries. His position is confirmed by the Polish government website.

According to Kosińska-Kamiś, incidents with drones can be used by Russia in propaganda, contribute to hybrid warfare and increase the risk of escalation.

“Of course, Ukraine should — and this is also being said by the military and NATO — define its targets much more precisely so as not to create a threat to the security of the Alliance countries… Therefore, Ukraine must be very careful: understanding its tactical goals in the war it is waging, it must protect the territory of NATO countries,” the Minister emphasized.

On the night of May 7, several drones violated Latvian airspace, two of which fell on the country’s territory, in particular near an oil storage facility. After that, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds resigned.

On May 20, a security alert was announced in Vilnius due to a drone detected near Lithuanian airspace from the Belarusian side. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, Prime Minister Inga Ruginenė and some employees of state institutions were taken to shelter.

Against the backdrop of such incidents, NATO’s eastern flank countries are increasing their focus on airspace protection and coordination with Ukraine.
