Polish police predict risk of increased crime after the end of the war in Ukraine
Polish law enforcement agencies have stated that they are preparing for a possible increase in crime levels after the end of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
As reported by RMF24, this was stated in a comment to journalists by the Chief Commandant of the Polish Police, Inspector General Marek Boroń.
He explained that after the end of hostilities, some Ukrainian veterans may come to Poland to their families. At the same time, some of them may face problems adapting to civilian life due to the psychological consequences of the war.
“We expect that some of these people will have mental disorders, so we are discussing these challenges. We also expect an increase in crime… Weapons that will no longer be used on the front may end up in the hands of organized crime groups for their activities,” Boron emphasized.
Separately, he drew attention to the risk that people with combat experience may try to attract criminal groups. According to him, similar situations have already arisen after the wars in Yugoslavia.
