Prices in the Czech Republic are rising: what Ukrainians will have to pay more for

Already by the end of May, the residents of the Czech Republic will have to spend more on housing rent. In addition, medical services are becoming more expensive. Although basic medical care is covered by insurance, some services, such as dental care, have to be paid for. Now they will be even more expensive.

In 2024, the Czech government decided to increase the property tax. The tax amount will almost double (+80%). This, of course, will trigger an increase in prices in the real estate market. The amount of the tax is changing already this month. That is, housing prices will start to rise already in May.

The prices for dental services in the Czech Republic will increase due to the adaptation of the country’s legislation to the norms and standards of the European Union. On the other hand, not only the cost, but also the quality of service provision should increase. In particular, in dentistry, more expensive materials will be used for prosthetics and treatment.

The changes in the cost of service are happening because the Czech Republic is implementing the European Union Medical Devices Directive this year. In addition, the costs of dental clinics for document management and equipment renewal are also increasing.

Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic are becoming less and less comfortable. This is evidenced by migration statistics. According to the results of March, the country took first place in terms of the number of Ukrainians who returned to the Motherland or migrated further. In a month from the Czech Republic 20.7 thousand more Ukrainians left, than arrived in the country. Thus, the number of refugees there decreased by -5.4%.
