Putin called it “correct and timely” invasion of Ukraine in 2022
President of the Russian Federation Volodymyr Putin said that he considers the decision on a full-scale invasion of Ukraine adopted in February 2022 to be “correct and timely”. He made such a statement in St. Petersburg during a meeting after the report of the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Army.
Putin said that “the enemy is retreating along the entire battle line” and emphasized that the Russian Federation “must achieve all goals of the CSTO”. In addition, he accused Ukraine of striking “peaceful objects” on the territory of Russia, which are allegedly aimed at “impressing Western patrons”.
At the same time, Putin threatened in response to the possibility of supplying Ukraine with American long-range Tomahawk missiles.
According to him, this will lead to the “destruction of positive trends in relations between Russia and the USA”:
“Now you talked about the president of the USA. There were also questions related to, say, the discussion of problems with the supply of new weapons systems, including long-range high-precision systems – it’s a Tomahawk. I have already said that this will lead to the destruction of our relations, at least the positive trends that have emerged in these relations. So I say what I think. And how it will turn out depends not only on us and not only on me.
