Putin’s Special Representative Dmitriev met with Witkoff in Washington

On April 2, the special representative of Vladimir Putin, Kirill Dmitriev, held a meeting with the special representative of the US president, Steve Witkoff, in Washington. About this informs Reuters.

The visit came after Donald Trump expressed his displeasure with the delay in the truce negotiation process. On Sunday, he said he was “furious” with Putin and suggested the possibility of introducing sanctions against buyers of Russian oil.

Dmitriev arrived in the US at the invitation of Steve Witkoff, a representative of the Trump administration who coordinates relations with the Kremlin. To organize the visit, the White House was forced to issue a special short-term entry permit to Dmitriev, as he is under US sanctions.

“Dmitriev can play a key role in restoring relations, which before Trump’s inauguration in January were the worst between Moscow and Washington since the most dangerous stages of the Cold War,” – says the message.

Dmitriev himself published a map of his flight to the USA on the X social network and added:

“Whatever your politics, the dialogue between the US and Russia matters. It’s about building a safer, more prosperous world for everyone.”
