Remove all restrictions: France demands to give Ukraine the opportunity to attack the territory of the Russian Federation
The right to self-defense excludes the right to defend the aggressor’s territory, according to Jean-Louis Bourlange, head of the committee on foreign affairs of the National Assembly of France. The politician demands the lifting of restrictions on the provision of long-range weapons to Ukraine. Currently, Washington is also considering the possibility of using foreign weapons to attack Russia.
Such discussions intensified due to the intensification of the Russian offensive, in particular in the direction of Kharkiv. In a month, the Russian troops managed to capture about 300 square kilometers.
Since the beginning of the war, under the leadership of Washington, Ukraine’s allies have demanded that Kyiv refrain from striking deep into Russian territory in order to reduce the risk of escalation towards the use of nuclear weapons. This meant protecting Ukraine without attacking Russia. But at the beginning of May, London, which, in particular, supplies the Ukrainians with Storm Shadow cruise missiles, directly allowed the Ukrainians to carry out strikes on the territory of Russia.
Permission to attack the territory of the Russian Federation does not mean direct intervention of Western countries in the war, the French politician believes.
“In the name of what can we deny the Ukrainians the right to respond blow by blow to the attacks of which they are victims? Countries friendly to Ukraine are determined not to fight. Therefore, it is not about their interference in the theater of war,” he said Jean-Louis Bourlange.
