Representatives of the US, Germany, France and Great Britain will be present during the talks between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul
During the next round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, which will take place in Istanbul, the presence of representatives of the United States, as well as national security advisers of Germany, France and Great Britain is planned. This was stated by the special envoy of the US President in Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, informs ABC News.
According to him, the USA will take part in the upcoming negotiations in Turkey between Kyiv and Moscow.
“And with us will be what we call the E3 group of countries. These are national security advisers from Germany, France and Great Britain. And they, when we were in London, helped us form a list of conditions for a ceasefire for Ukraine. And they will also be there. And we will also get their feedback.” Kellogg said.
He emphasized that “you should never underestimate” US President Donald Trump and “never put him in a position where you can think that he is being used.”
“And I think his frustration is that he’s put forward some reasonable suggestions and debates. And he’s seen a level of unreasonableness that’s very disappointing to him. It’s disappointing to me as well. I said, ‘Leave it. We’re not saying that you’re asking us to sell you Alaska. We’re just saying that these are certain things that we have to get to.” – said the official.
Kellogg added that real issues will be discussed during the talks in Turkey, including the prospects of Ukraine’s membership in NATO and the situation with the occupied territories.
It will be recalled that during the first meeting in Istanbul, which took place on May 16, the United States was absent at the request of the Russian side.
