Residents of the frontline areas will receive financial assistance from UNICEF to prepare for winter

UNICEF provides financial assistance to Ukrainians living in frontline regions to prepare for winter. By data of the press service of the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, each family can receive more than 21,000 hryvnias. This is part of a joint initiative of the Ministry of Reintegration and UNICEF, which aims to support families with children in the regions most affected by hostilities.

The first payments have already started in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. During this week, more than 12,000 families will receive 21,800 hryvnias each, which can be spent on preparing for the winter cold, in particular, on the purchase of solid fuel.

The UNICEF project envisages a total funding of over 260 million hryvnias. In addition to cash payments, assistance will also be provided in kind — fuel briquettes, warm clothes for children under 15 years of age, and blankets.

The ministry reports that up to 60,000 residents of the frontline areas are planned to be supported within the program. These measures will help ensure they are prepared for the winter of 2024/2025, especially given the harsh conditions faced by people in war zones.
