Romania raised F-16 fighter jets due to the threat of Russian drones

On January 17, Romania raised its F-16 fighter jets in the air due to a Russian UAV attack on Ukraine. About this reported Ministry of National Defense of Romania.

“Monitoring systems detected a violation of the airspace of Romania. Two F-16 aircraft took off from the 86th Borc Air Base. They returned at approximately 3:48 a.m. Residents of Tulcea County were notified of the danger,” – the message says.

The Romanian military said that search units of the Ministry of Defense found traces near the city of Plauru that could indicate a drone strike. Research flights and airspace surveillance in the area are currently underway.

“The Ministry of National Defense sends a strong signal of condemnation of these strikes by the Russian Federation on the targets and elements of the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine, which are unfounded and seriously contradict the norms of international law.”, – emphasized the military department of Romania.
